my laptop has 80gb harddisk and its nearly full. I need your recommendations: option 1: get a larger drive for the laptop.. 100/120/160gb and then use the old 80gb as an external drive option 2: just get a large external desktop drive (cheaper) and transfer files there.

I prefer external drives for storing my data, have some DVDs and CDs with other sort of data on it. My internal drive only contains the required software and info, and is almost free of space.

I would go with Option 2 I have had a 35 gig HD for the last few years and have never filled it up I use external drives to store my data on. it works great.

if i were you i would choose the second alternative you can get an external rackk very cheap wich connects to your laptop through usb 2.0 and a 200 gb hdd. with that you dont have to worry about disk space. Peace

well its always a better situation to have more than 1 HD, one for normal use one for backup, I think option 1 is good, and purhcase at least 120 GB because if u have filled 80 GB than u will soon fill ur 100 GB too !

Dude i think external desktop drive is a good as it will be portable wherever you go. It may be of use to you as you may also use with the others.
