what do you do when the father of your child is a total deadbeat.. doesnt pay child support , doesnt come visit except maybe 2 times a month if your lucky - my son is only 5 mo old. I want to support them having an active relationship. The father and i get along fine - so there is no anger or resentment. I just dont get it. Should i just tell him to 'kiss off' entirley or put up with this for the sake of my son- or is it hurting my son in the long run?

My advice would be to just let the father do as he pleases. In the long run it will hurt him most. You need to write down in a notebook dates of every visit and keep up with this all through your childs life. When he/she is old enough to understand and asks you questions about this you will have your proof that it was the the fathers fault. Also this ledger will come in handy if there is ever any custody issues. Because i was in this very same predictament with my childs father but i had no records of visits just he said she said. Also write down any misconduct or mishaps of the father you may need this someday for your childs best intrests.

He's hurting your son, that's for sure. A child is entitled to a mother and a father. You should continue to encourgage this man to have a relationship with his son. He should also be paying child support. You need to go to family court, and get a court order for him to pay.

If he's that bad, maybe it's best he's not in the kid's life
