Pride In Cooking

I've always taken a certain sort of pride in making my own dishes from scratch. Ever since my first accomplishment - mashed potatoes, seasoned with garlic and butter - I've loved to cook and share my cooking. I love a good meal, food is one of my greatest pleasures, but there's something to be said for your own homemade cooking. And yet, I see all these people - men and women - who think it's demeaning and 'old fashioned' to home cook. If they do it, they hide it or get flustered when asked about it. I know we're living in the modern era, but good food never goes out of style! If you love to cook, do so without fear! It doesn't have to be anything complicated or gourmet. It doesn't matter if you just started and have in your hands your first un-burnt grilled cheese sandwich or if you've just added the finishing touches to a smoke-pit roasted pig. Always, always take pride in what you've created. There's no shame in it. There's no reason to feel awkward or embarrassed because you enjoy cooking. Besides, it's a gift everyone else can enjoy, too!

I don't mind cooking and do make my dishes from scratch usually but I'm not really one who takes pride in it. It's just more cost effective to make them from scratch.

I love ot cook my meal myself. It is funny. The greatest advantage is I can cook it on my taste. IT is difficult to order something in a hotel because you don't know what will be in front of you.

I take pride in my cooking. I am proud to be a Mother working full time and happy to come home and still put a meal on the table. Yes, some nights I do take shortcuts, but there is always a meat, starch and a veggie on the table. My cooking might not be the fanciest, but it is edible and my family appreciates me taking care of them and providing them with a hot meal every night!

I love to cook as well, and am enjoying the art of "traditional" cooking. I love to make my own stocks and freeze them to be used later in home made soups. I am even learning how to make homemade yogurt, and cream cheese! Keep on Cooking

I was raised by my grandmother and she always cooked every meal we ate, I don't ever remember eating out when I lived with her. She taught me alot about cooking and the old fashion way to make alot of dishes. My kids see me cook and they ask how to make gravy the other day I don't use measuring cups I can eyeball it and know about how much I need but they teach them in school with all kinds of gadgets some I have never heard of too. They love the food i serve but don't understand my concept of cooking.

I know how to cook. I know the ingriedients required to prepare good dish. Now and then I cook and also I prepare tea, coffee etc. One should be proud of that the art of cooking he/she knows. If you know cooking , it would help to keep the good health in exigencies like delivery by the wife or when unfortunately the spouse is met with accident etc. One can easily learn cooking by adopting trial and error method. If you know the main ingridients to prepare any dish, you learn to make it tasty by adopting trial and error method in mixing salt, pepper etc.

There's definitely pride in cooking when it comes to my family! Our family members are pretty known by our circle of friends to cook really well, and that is something we are very grateful for and are proud of. It definitely takes a lot of creativity and passion when it comes to cooking. That's what makes what something cooks taste really good!

I love to cook also and never use any of these packaged products available today. It is cheaper to make it all from scratch and because I have food allergies I know what goes in everything I make. I was taught to cook when I was young. I think I was eight when I cooked a whole meal by myself. I put myself through college by working in restaurants as a cook and even changed my major for two years to Restaurant management and planed on going to a culinary school. But after a friend went to culinary school and came back and I knew more then he did I decided not to go there. I do not understand why so many people in our society do even know how to cook. They can open a can or put something frozen in the oven but that is the extent of their cooking (if you can call it that) abilities. I am teaching my children to cook and hope they carry the pride of cooking homemade meals with them. I fail to understand why so many people are ashamed to admit that they can cook but I have seen that attitude a lot.

I take pride in warming up frozen pancakes or waffles for my children in the morning. I'm the world's worst cook. I'm 30 and I can still burn water. I can make a decent lasagna and I did cook an awesome turkey dinner once about 6 years ago and the whole meal turned out great, especially the home-made gravy but it was a total fluke. I feel soooo bad for my husband. He deserves tastier food and preferable without a bout of food poisoning afterwards. Okay that only happened once, and I swear itwasn'tmyfault. *Ahem*

I love to cook and bake. I have for as long as I can remember. I will admit there are times I'm tired of figuring out what to cook for dinner every night but over all I enjoy cooking. I like to experiment with new things, I love trying to make things from scratch, I enjoy the smell of the kitchen as food cooks, all of it really. Yeah sometimes things don't turn out as planned but over all I have had a lot of fun with it.

I have always enjoyed cooking ever since I was 7 years old and could flip pancakes without them going every where..lol I do cook from scratch just about every night and it is sort of a relaxing time for me. Although I can admit that some nights I just don't feel like cooking and get one of those boxed dinners, but those are very seldom and far between. I love cooking so much that I can't even imagine what it would be like if I didn't know how.

my mom said that my cook is not bad enough. but i never believe in myself to be a cook when its time to cook. besides, my mom's cooks are always the best! she cooks the best foods in the world with the best taste. doesn't mean i don't like cooking. i cook sometimes. but i more prefer my mom's cooks rather that my cooks.

I too enjoy cooking, but enjoy it so much more when it's for a crowd. As for those potatoes you mentioned, oh my god..I love them. The name for them in my house is Mommy's creamy garlic tatoes. The kids love them and I could eat a tonne and not get sick of them. I enjoy quicker meals at some times, when I just don't have that urge to make something fantastic. But I must say that I love making big meals and knowing that I actually made something that tastes that good :)

Dear princess, Surely you can read. Simple cookbooks take you step by step through the process. Surely you know when water boils. When it says boil for x number of minutes surely you know what that means. If you don't know what chop, dice, mince, fry, sauté or braise means look up each definition in the dictionary. I taught my kids (boys) to cook simple meals when thye were 10 years old. By eating out all the time you are not doing your family a favour. You are creating another generation of people who cannot look after themselves if times get hard. Furthermore many restaurant meals are totally unhealthy and contribute to obesity in people of all ages. Start with simple meals with fresh ingedients. You will never look back.

I love to cook and most people that know me know this about me.Why would you want to hide that? I make most everything from scratch....but if I had a busy day...I will use packaged foods and I don't feel bad about that either.
