Does anyone else miss Hunter like I do? I have been a loyal follower of his work since I stumbled across a softcover copy of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" at my mother's house about 10 yrs ago. Since then I have worked my way through most of his books and many of his magazine articles. I miss his E.S.P.N. articles a lot. His life and works are still of great interest to me and I actively search out little nuggets of gold tucked away in the back pages of old High Times or Rolling Stone. He changed the way I look at the world and for this I am forever in his debt. You are missed, Uncle Duke.

"He knew who I was, at that time, because I had a reputation as a writer. I knew he was part of the Bush dynasty. But he was nothing, he offered nothing, and he promised nothing. He had no humor. He was insignificant in everyway and consequently I didnt pay much attention to him. But he passed out in my bathtub, then I noticed him. I'd been in another room, talking to bright people. I had to have him taken away." - Hunter on meeting George W. Bush at a Super Bowl party Thompson hosted in Houston in 1974. For words such as that...I tip my hat and pay my respects to the one and only.
