Another reason why you should rate all discussions...

Maybe many of you are already doing this. I actively rate everything with the " + & - " rating system and found out another good use for it, After a while I noticed that it's also helpful to mark the discussions I already replied to, you know there are many discussions on the same topics and if you are responding to 20+ or 30 + discussions daily (some even respond to 100 +) then you may forget if you replied to this discussion or not if you come across it again a few days later ..if you rate all discussions and you open the same discussion again it will show the mark "Rated" in red and you will know that you already replied to it before. This way you are not only rating the discussions but also marking them as "read and answered" too .. I hope some of you will find this tip helpful :)

i saw that same tip from another user here in mylot, and followed that scheme.. hey, it is really easy to know if you have read his response or not.. and it is my way of saying 'thank you for dropping by and answering'.. you know, we cannot reply to all answers in our discussions but we really appreciate their sharing of their views.. that is why i am always rating every response in every discussion.. it can be of help to you, and to them..

OK, thank you for posting here, I didn't see the other member giving the same tip but i though many people will be doing this anyway but it won't hurt to tell it for those who didn't notice.. Yes we should always rate discussions and responses just to help others but it's is good when you can use it to sort out your posting too :)

oh, and forgot to say, i do not give a '-' rate.. cause i know everyone deserves a '+'... unless the reply is so out of the topic and a little bit of a spam! :)

Thanks for the note. I will do that from now on. I thought we rate according to the response. Well, it is a good tool in marking the ones we replied to. Thanks again. Do you have other tips?

Other tips in getting good rates and many responses to your discussions is to take care of your friends so they will take care of you .. I always start with "Discussions my friend started", some people have many friends on their list and they never respond to their friends discussions .. what's the point in having friends at mylot if we don't "favor" them when choosing what to reply to.

thank you for the tip. i wonder what happened if one you replied to is "-"? will it do no good to the discussion starter?

If you rate the discussion starter with " - " it will decrease his star number if many other members doing the same but just one - rating will not hurt much .. usually you won't want to respond to stupid discussions and if you like the subject enough to respond it should be rated a +

I had recently analyzed such stuff actually. I wasn't able to rathe responses from my discussions and after I had read the alert button from Mylot and read discussions pertaining it, I go over every single responses made in my topic. Then I rated them + or - in it, but I seldom rate a - sign if such responses not of quality I just leave them behind. They say rating a responses can certainly help those make star higher. And also your right that you can see if you had read such comment or topic already if you see the red mark after the message. It can also help fight up spammers by either rating them negative or reporting them.

Yes I rate all responses the same way, - for scammers. I really like the way it marks it rated. It sure does make it alot easier to know where you left on when there are pages of responses. I would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that we should be RATING PHOTOS also. I always rate the photos posted in my responses and peoples discussion topics, well if it's a real photo or pertains to the discussion. If someone post a picture that has no relation and they just trying to make a penny, I report it and then rate it - .

Yes rating photos is a good point too that we should not ignore .. Actually i haven't reported any abuse regarding photos yet, usually most people choose related and appropriate photos.

Thank you so much for the rating tip. To be honest I actually wasn't sure what the + and - were for. I just went and rated a couple of my discussions and now will continue to do this. Now the ! mark is that only to report abuse of a topic? Thanks again for the tip. :)

you're welcome :) Yes the ! sign is to report abuse, use it when you see any abuse on any discussion (not just yours) this helps mylot cleaning the site and continue to pay legitimate members :)

Thanks for that freesoul. I didn't even think of using that as a marker. I usually wait to see if my points go up after responding. Is this right at the top under the discussion or next to peoples responses? Thanks again. Keep up the good detective work and let us in on any other tips.

You better rate the person who started the discussion by using the rate signs at the top right after the main discussion post.. You can additionally rate any other response that you read through the whole discussion.

You can respond again It is a way of keeping track. I think it also tells the monitors what we think of the poster and maybe improves their rank. Not sure though.

Yes it helps increasing the star rank of the poster and as you only get paid once in posting at the same discussion and if you respond to too much discussions daily it's better not to waste your time and respond twice to the same discussion unless there is something you really want to ask or make clear. thus rating discussions also mark them so you know what you already replied to.

are we not gonna be paid if we make two or more potings in the same discussion? too many similiar topic can caused double posting and why should i make any rate if i dont even read other's comment ^^?
@freesoul (3021)
• Egypt
28 Jan 07
No you are not paid if you reply twice to the same discussion, and you shouldn't rate things that you did not read.. just rate the original post of the discussion (at the top of the page) because you will have to read this to be able to respond :) if you read anything else on the discussion you should rate it too.

I appreciate the tip. I did not even come close to thinking about something like that. Thank you! I am not into replying to so many topics in one day. To me you cannot give a topic any real consideration, by trying to answer so many in one day. I know that I am not going to get rich off of this site or any other site. I run two informational web sites. And I am always looking for fresh ideas. That is why I am here.

yes i do follow up the posts by rating them.thanks for the information though.is there any other benefit by marking a discussion.what happens when you mark a - and mark a + .can you explain this?

when giving + you help the star rate of the one you are rating to increase , rating - will effect their rate and it may decrease ..it's your way to say if what you are reading is good or just spam .. and although I'm not sure but some members say that mylot maybe paying those who actively rate a higher rates on their responses and discussions.
