Who should be responsible for your Health Care? Should the government decide what is covered by insurance or should people be free to buy the type and amount of insurance much like you do for Car Insurance or House Insurance?

The responsibility for health insurance should rest on the individual. Some people choose which company they will work for based on who offers the better insurance. In this day and age, most employers realize this and offer some sort of insurance. Government should have no input or responsibility.
The only think government can do to help people is to place limits on frivolous lawsuits. People don't realize that when doctors get sued, their insurance pays, then passes along the cost in the way of premiums to the doctor, who in turn passes that cost along to his patients. I'm not saying all lawsuits should be thrown out, but some of the stupid ones should.
Health insurance is expensive, but government has shown no interest in making wise decisions with money. They would be the worst ones to deal with it. The cost of health care would be the same, but that's because of red tape and programs. Doctors would make less, meaning fewer people would become doctors, so ultimately health care would suffer.

The more the government gets involved the more expensive it is for everyone and the pooer the service. I like your ideas on frivolous law suits. I would like to see some sort of arbitration where they would look at the facts and not the emotion like a jury. A good novel about Trial Lawyers you could read John Grishiums book"The King of Torts". To them it is all about making money for themselves.

My wife has read that book. I haven't had a chance yet. I love his work, though.
You know what they say. The scariest sentence in the world:
"I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you."
