Do you feel uncomfortable using someone elses computer?

I recently stayed with a friend in another state, and I was quite surprised at how uncomfortable I felt at using her computer, even just to check my e-mail! It looked different, felt different and computed very different to Steve (My trusty laptop) and I felt strange using it. A usual computer nut, I was happy to finish deleting my junk mail and logging off! Am I the only person who feels very uncomfortable using an unfamiliar computer?

No, I feel unconfortable too, if I have to use other's computer. It is because I do not see immediatelly what I am looking for. Or I see icons that I do not know or I never use.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I feel weird because the icons are not exactly where mine are, and are all mixed around, topsy turvy. I also feel bad because my background is not there! Thanks for your response.

I don't know if I necessarily feel "uncomfortable", but I do like my computer better. I know where everything is and it has all my programs, etc. I guess I do feel a little uncomfortable.

LOL -- I'm the same way. That's why I take my laptop with me when I travel!

Haha, Of course we have states! We're not just a big lumpy land mass. There's Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria (My state), Australian Capital Territory and Tasmania.

Yes, there's the overall Prime Minister for the Whole Country, then there's State Leaders (Usually called Governors). Similar to your system I guess!

I'v herd of those areas but I thought they were townships or counties or something very British sounding. Do each of your states have a separate governor like ours???

I don't feel uncomfortable using my friend's computer only to check my email or to write a paper. I got used to that in college when I couldn't use my own computer all the time because it wouldn't work or something. But it's only the one person I feel comfortable using her computer.

Dear Kaorin, I am from India, one of world most software developers working in US and other countries and many of the professionals used other persons computers. Even the professionals whom I know and now working in IBM and other US software developing companies used other persons computer. Hence I feel the scarcity of computer for them made the value of it may be they are satisfied. But I hope it also depends upon the availability of that product and its price. That might be one of major cause in my place why people share their computers and laptops. They have a long way to go to have one for them selves so as to feel uncomfortable while using someone else computer. s
