What do you think? Do you think kid should at least get primary education in his mother tongue? I strongly believe in that. The base of any children's growth is the primary education and it is very much comfortable to get it in mother tongue. I do believe international and national language are very much important to learn but primary education should be in mother tongue only. What do you all say ??

Studying our own langauge is necessary. Be proud of your own culture. How could you introduce your culture or your country to anyone is you don't even know your mother tongue. I am interested in learning other languages and I used to ask questions to those people who use it as their mother tongue. I am dismayed if the person doesn't know his or her mother tongue. It is your culture and be proud of it.

I think a child should be educated in both d languages, i.e. his mother tongue as well as International Language. In todays world ppl educated in Intl language beats more a child only having his education in national language. Go according to d trend in education atleast. I m not saying to go against ur tongue, but give importance to International lang in education. this is wat I feel.

That's very true! We should have give importance to international language also. I am not against in learning intl language. What I am in against is say for example, if I born in an English speaking family, I should have take my primary education in English language only instead of any other foreign languge. Yse, I could learn other foreign language as secondary language.

Primary education here in the Philippines is up to Grade IV. This would be too long or many years using the dialect if we do use in primary education. I believe that it should only be a subject as well as others but the teacher of course should explain from time to time in the native tongue of the children.

For communication with your own people, the mothertongue is good and necessary. But for studies, our government make a one subject in the curriculum. And in a company they need a person who have a good communications skills in English.

Yes, I agree with that, you need to learn foreign languages for communication purpose. My point was, it is very easy to make infant understand about all the things in his/her mother tongue only. Primary education is the base of any further study. And this base can only be stronge if it is done in Mothertongue.
