Do you think it's okay to give away gifts that you received? instead of letting them pile up at home? don't you think it's better to give them to people who need them more?

Well from one angle your opinion seems to be nice. I am reminded of an interesting episode that one of my friends told me. I do not know whether it is just exaggeration or simple joke! X was invited for the birthday party of a colleague Y. They were not so close, but being a colleague x could not reject the invitation. When the appointed day came he remembered about the gift and could not buy it for want of time. The idea what you have now expressed, came to his mind. And he picked up on one of those old gifts from his collection that he didn't like to keep. The party was over and he returned happily. The next day when he went reached his office one of his close friends told him that the previous day some one from their office had given a gift to "Y" that he("Y") himself had presented on another occasion to one of his colleagues!?!! 'X" had a sigh of relief that "Y" didn't recognize the person. May be an intelligent joke. But there is some dig in the story. I believe we can donate it to some one who is need of it rather than recycling it.

You simply write a small label and attach it to the item saying who bought it and when so you can make sure yo don't make that kind of mistake. Then you remove the label from the item when you give it to soemone else. Easy!

yes, a lot of times I do recycle gifts I have received that I know I will not use and so I would say yes definately it's ok to give away gifts that I am not going to use what is the use of letting them stay in my home if I am not going to have any use of them, and people can get use of them.

hi,Its good idea, because some times we will get same type of gifts for different occassions like wall clocks, tea trays...........so there is nothing wrong in recycle the gifts instead of purchasing again and keeping waste in our house. But in case of any special gifts, gifted us with affection,love........it is better to keep those with us

Ofcourse, recycling gifts is very important, and should be practised happily.Firstly, it avoids turning your house into a junkyard, as half the gifts you get may be of no use for you.Secondly if you pass them on to someone who may find them useful, then they dont waste away.Thirdly, they help this way, from unnecessary expense, which you would have otherwise have faced. So, be happy yourself and make others happy with you too.

It's not just a case of "people who need them more". It's also that people often buy inappropriately. Who wants to be stuck with a pile of things you don't need, don't like or never use? My partner was given something for Christmas whch we are going to give to a friend for his birthday tomorrow (don't worry - he won't see ths posting!) We should awlaways think of others, though, and give away what we do not need or use. MAkes complete sense
