For me it's Larry Carlton especially his solo work and sessions with other musicians. He is the musician's musician.

From what I know about Darrell he uses a lot of guitat tunings, something I don't experiment with a lot. I feel like there's too much to learn with standard tuning alone. However, I really admire the guitar player especially in Cemetary Gates.I enjoy Dragon Force as well. I would say their style is refreshing. they've managed to introduced something new into metal that I find interesting and find myself hooked to their music.Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin are a couple of the guitar players that everyone should also listen to.

Slash is the no. 1 guitarist. Because of his solos and harmony he is great. The introduction solo of Sweet Child 'O' Mine is tremendous.

I love his Room 335 so much I still have a record of that album up to now, although I don't have a player anymore. I think listening to records with all its noise and imperfections are more enjoyable. I find cds too anesthesized. I also think Joe Pass and Pat Metheny are really great. There's so many guitarist that I personally like and couldn't just mention one as the best. I would like to ask others in this forum for their personal favorites and probably give me links to sites where I can check them out.
