for problem #2. from pytagorian theorem formula, c^2=-a^2+b^2. given: c=250,a=x and b=x+50 substitute: 250^2=x^2+(x+50)^2 250^2=x^2+x^2+50^2 250^2=2x^2+50^2 250^2-50^2=2x^2 200^2=2x^2 x=100 The size of rectangle is L=x+50 and W=x. So substitute. L=100+50=150 and W=100.
