How do you help a person who is more negative then positive. How would you influence their life and what words or actions would you use to set examples?

This person would have to be willing to change. I completely believe that our thinking directly attracts the events that happen in our lives. When you are focused on the negatives, your expectations become negative and that is what brings unwanted events into your life. Life doesn't just happen randomly. Ask this person what is to be gained by thinking negatively? Is there any constructive purpose to this kind of thinking? If there is something this person wants out of life, the way to get it is to be thinking in terms of goodness, kindness, abundance and happiness. Focusing on those kind of thoughts and feelings is the only way to rid yourself of negative thinking. Many people are not aware of their thinking. They do not know how damaging their thinking is to themselves and others. You could try to influence them by setting a good example and thinking positively yourself. If you believe in God, ask for enlightenment. Banish any negative ideas that come into your awareness and replace them with thoughts that mean goodness to you. People will never change unless they see a reason to change for themselves. Ask God for assistance in this matter and think positive thoughts about the person you are trying to influence.

You are right, we miss out on joy if we are negative but it does affect our thoughts and can pull down things in our lifes. I think its sad because some people dont realise its like a chain reaction or domino effect.

No matter how bad you think life is it could be worse. Every black cloud has a silver lining. Make today the best first day of the rest of your life. God is always with you.

I always tell people to believe in themselves when they are doubting themselves and their abilities. I tell them that positive thinking will take you a long way but if you are negative that you will not succeed in things that you do. I work with a lot of people who are negative most of the time and am always trying to encourage them and give them positive advice and feedback on the things they do. When they get excited about something they did, I congratulate them and give them a smile. When they turn in a paper to be graded and did well, I would put a sticker on there that says great job or congratulations or awesome.

I believe the devil is the planter of the negative seeds. I think he likes all the despair that he sows. It is totaly our choice to grow stronger in Christ and put our positive feet forward. If we have a bad moment or bad day, just know that we have the choice to come up and out of it.

Sometimes you simply can't. My ex husband was the ultimate pessimist. If he won the lotto he'd complain his billion dollars was paid in hundreds instead of twenties. There are just some people in the world that you cannot change. I quit trying long ago. Wasting your time trying to make someone see the bright side of life isn't worth it. Live your life happily, if they come around and realize then fine, if not don't sweat it.

Thats true. I like trying to keep a good attitude because you hope it will spread to everyone else arround you. Its alot better then spreading the negatives around.

I've found that there isn't much one can usually do for a truly negative person who is really set in their ways. The most you can do is try to be positive towards them yourself. My mother can be really negative a lot of the time, and I've tried to explain to her that I feel that her negativeness only brings more negativeness into her life, but I've never seen that it has made any difference in how she acts. I've tried to help her, but she seems to be stuck in her ways. But I still love her, very much! ^_^

I found that both of my parents would have the tough days as they got really older. I am glad they both bounce back well. I think their sense of humor has maintained over the years and it has been the best thing in their favor besides the belief in the Lord -which I have defintly seen them both grow closer to God as the years have gone by.

I think these posting are a way we can help all the people who are under stress right now. We have people who are sick, and going through financial stress, other problems...how can we inspire people to look towards the sun?
