I have been ill since january 12th th, went to er on the 14th had a bunch of tests , was told i had a bad chest cold, however with the meds I still felt no better, i saw the doctor on the 18th , at this point he told me I had pneumonia, now I have sick since, I have been using antibiotics , 2 different kinds, also prednisone and the nebullizer, I find myself not as congested as I was, however , I have not been able to cough up any Flem, I have blown it out of my nose. I now have a little cough not as it was before, but it happens more so when I am laying down, still no Flem I do not feel the wheezing either anymore, . My fear is something else going on here, I do have pain in between my should blades, sometime when I breath and most of time when I lay down and there is any type of pressure to my back, like right now I sit here and type and i feel the ache there.if anyone has had this , how long did it take before you felt well again. I feel like crap, very very tired runned down, and I have never seen myself look so pale before.

I told you that I had this for almost 4 months. I was on all sorts of medications. If you aren't bringing up phlem then there isn't any. Believe me the nebulizer would bring it up if it was there. Also after the pneumonia is gone the cough will still be there. It takes months for the cough to go away. Of course you feel tired, it takes alot out of you. You have pain in your back and between your shoulders because of the coughing. I have gone through this so I know what I am talking about. If the wheezing is gone, you are starting to get better.

I had a chest xray on the 14th while in the er, and I am having another one today, as for the phlem, i was told yesterday that it came out while i was blowing my nose and the phlem in the chest was also loosened , and that does not always need to be coughed up , , my lungs sound better as of yesterday, i was told to continue using the nebulizer and continue taking my meds and drinking fluids, also was told to get out of bed and walk around a bit as it is not wise to stay laying down.

Pneumonia can last a long time, and the pain you feel between your shoulder blades is a common side effect of pheumonia, it is due to all the congestion in your lunds. I personally have never suffered from it, but my youngest daughter has had it twice. It's very scary when she gets it too. It will make you feel like crap for sure as you are not getting the oxygen you need. What you need is plenty of rest and lots of fluids. If you find it is not getting better in a week, perhaps you should make a return visit to your doctor and probably have an ex-ray done to ensure the fluid is coming out of your lungs. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Pneumonia means that there is an infection or inflammation in the lung tissue. It can be caused by a lot of different micro-organisms - viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites that are too small to see - but it can also be caused by corrosive chemicals breathed into the stomach or toxic gases from a fire. In order to make sure it is pneumonia, and to find out if it is the serious form, the patient will often be directed to their local hospital where some X-ray pictures of the lungs will be taken to see how bad the condition is. If the condition is severe, they will probably be admitted to hospital for treatment. The micro-organism will be grown from your phlegm or your blood to find out what it is and decide the best course of treatment to take.
