Sinulog in Cebu

Well I guess it could slightly affect that. But I don't necessarily think that free interpretations of the sinulog would greatly affect the traditional prayer and dance. What we need to do is to make sure that the people coming over to watch sinulog are properly informed and educated about the true essence of the sinulog. What is important is to achieve a balance between commercialization,attracting tourists and increasing business capital and yet, make sure that the true essence is not lost in the preocess.

For my personal point of view YES. The essence of the celebration is to comemorate the day sto.nino arrived in cebu and to ask some blessing and guidance, but with various crowds who do just watch and cheers and litter around that seems don't really care or knew what the event is all about. Too sad that our local goverment put so much to catch attention of tourist for the money making scheme and that lessen the value and importance of the religious activities we celebrate.
