I have a question about "friends" in MyLot...........

Ok - so I am a little confused about the "friends" system here in MyLot. Since I joined here recently I have had loads of requests from people wanting to be my friend which is very slattering. Some of them are people I've already been "talking" to in threads in my interests, and it's great because we exchange private messages too and they always start threads with similar inetrests to mine which I enjoy contributing to. But others seem totally random - they have nothing in common with me, and I feel bad that sometimes I can't respond in their threads because I have no knowledge of the subject they're writing about at all. So - tell me - how do people choose their "friends"?

Your welcome my dear friend.

I only request to be friends with people whose posts I enjoy reading and responding to. I would never request to be friends with people randomly, as the first thing I usually do when I sign in to Mylot is read through my friends recent discussions. However, as yet I haven't denied a friend request, as I always think people may have requested to be added to my friend list for the same reason that I would make a request. Hope that helps.

if they are your friend it doesn't mean you have the obligation to participate in their discussions. and it depends on your interest and knowledge.

I think some people just ask to have you as a friend cause they think it will help them earn more money, like say maybe because it's your friend you will rate them or respond more to their discussions, I personally look for people who I have things in common with.

Well as you know Rosie my friends are the best!! But I have not been on here long and I have tried to ask people to be a friend if they are around my age or have similar interests. However this does not mean I would not welcome young friends because in my opinion they might broaden my outlook. If they are of a different culture all the better so long as they can bear with me being a little slow on the uptake and my sense of humour. As for private messages I have not worked that one out yet!
