making a child stop its cry.....

a baby crying - generally nobody want their babies to cry.if they start crying what are the ways you use to stop their cry?

i will give the child some toys of its liking to stop its cry.even then if the child cries,then i would sing some rhymes and swing him up and down.even then too if he still cries,i too will start crying with him.
