question for girls, do you go swimming (either in the pool or beach) when you have your period or menstruation? what are your thoughts about this?

i'd feel very uncomfortable, although from my experiences, i stop bleeding when i'm in the water.

i take a bath, sometimes i still bleed in there, but its just too soothing that i dont wanna get out. during this time of month my muscles in every part of my body get so tense and i lose my temper and have headaches and lower back and stomach cramps - all of that seems to go away when i take a warm bath. then when i get out i usually feel so much more revived. they say being immersed in water slows the flow of blood in your system, but i dont think its true with me.

No I don't swim while I am menstrating. Although like some of the others have probably stated before me that yo can use a tampon and swim. They are even a new tampon out for girls that do sports such as swimming and other things that way they get better coverage. I have heard though that it is good and relaxing and can relieve some severe cramping being in the water.

I tend to avoid swimming but its mainly becuase i feel sooo crappy. But if I cannot avoid I make sure i wear a tampon and not an ordinary sanitary napkin. Then im much more secure. But i rush for the changing room immediately. However I will avoid going in the pool on the first day as i have a very heavy flow on that day

I know that you are able to do so, and it is totally safe when you use tampons, but I could never bring myself to swim while having my period, particularly in a pool of any sort. I don't know, I've always had a fear that something will go wrong and I'll end up being the reason they evacuate the pool.. :P

No, I never and will never go swimming when I'm having my period. I know you can use tampons but I just don't feel comfortable or secure using it. What if there's a leak?

Yep I do and I wear tampons. I had a friend that was scared to try thinking that it may slip out or something, but nothing like that happens. Its just like normal swimming.
