personal statement

I am in the pocess of writing my personal statement for my residency applications. It's really confusing, because frankly speaking I don't know what to write. I was wondering if anyone could help me out over this, or better still, send me a sample personal statement.

Are you just to write a personal statement about yourself? Or Is there a particular question that they would like you to answer or focus on?
