I have an Altec Lansing i121 - a 2.1 speaker system that is quite OK for music but not too powerful. It already conked out once and needed a service center visit; but they set it right (something had burnt out). Its not given any probs after vthat. The bass response is good, but the treble aint that clear. Its not very powerful, but serves the purpose for me.

I have Altec Lansing THX certified Doby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound speakers. I also have a great sound card. I love to listen to music with them. But the best is listening to surround sound while watching my favorite movie on my DVD player. I have two speakers on my desk, two mounted on the back wall and the bass under my desk. I have sound coming at you from all sides. Awesome!

Woah.... I can almost feel the great sound from your description. Maybe some day I'll switch over to a 5.1 system.
