Hi, currently I am using avira antivir personal classic edition. This can be downloaded free at www.free-av.com I have been using this software for almost two years. Since using it, I have never had any problems at all with regards to the overall function and system performance of my machine. Otherwise, I am so impressed and grateful with its performance. It udpates on a regular basis and can be scheduled at your most convenient time. It is very light on resources and does not use a lot of memory. Hence, does not slow down your computer. Hope this would help. Have a nice day!

I have been using AVG too and it has protected my PC quite well. But another important components for pc security are a good anti-spyware and a personal firewall. I'm looking to try some personal firewalls as this is what blocks any kind of virus from entering the PC in the first place and not leave it for the anti-virus to protect from infected files.
