i know of some people who had their telephone lines disconnected because all of the family members already have cellphones. they now rely on their mobile phones as their basic communication device. do you think sooner or later, landline phones will be faced out and replaced by mobile phones?

I hope not!! The cellphone service in our area sucks!!! Untill this changes I rely on the landline. But we never know what the future holds do we. My grandmother used remark the she never thought she'd live to see the day ........but her generation sure saw alot of changes.

I think that they are heading that way pretty soon because more and more people are using more cellphones nowadays than landlines.

I was talking to my neighbor last week and she has 2 kids her husband is a Firefighter and she is a stay at home Mom and is expecting another this month ...they have turned there home phone off and use only their cell phones ...But her problem is now that some places want a home phone for you to have a service installed ,such as cable ,which they don't have either...I am wondering the same if these companies are going to change there rules as so many people don't have home phones anymore ...will be quite interesting to see...

purely for the financial aspect there'll always be landlines... and most companies rely on their landline numbers... in the UK the cost of calling mobiles can easily mount up.

I don't think so. Landline phones are much more reliable than cellular phones. It's still very useful today and for the coming years.
