parental involvement in children's education... positive or negative?

do you think that parental involvement is a great factor in a child's education? do you think it can help the child achieve it's goals and ambitions in life??? is this a positive or negative action from the parents?? will parental involvement take so much time from the parents?how should this be??? in what form???
