Wearing Contacts just to change the color of your eyes.

Many years ago it was all the rave to get contacts even if you didn't need them. People would get colored lenses to change their eye color. I never would do such a thing. I am happy with the color I have. Many of my friends who wore contacts for vision would get a different color such as blue instead of clear lenses.

I remember this craze! I think that it's a really nifty idea, but I for one am not sure that i could even bear to wear contacts. I've been a glasses wearer for many years now, and the idea of putting something in my eye like a contact lense kind of makes me want to shudder. *laugh* Besides that, although it would be neat to have different colored eyes for awhile, the color of my eyes is probably just about the only thing about my phsyical appearance that i actually don't dislike, lol! I have blue eyes, and they really are the only thing about myself that I think is remotely nice. So I don't have that much of a reason to want to change how my eyes look. ^_^

Guilty!! Well, i would not to be a hypocrite and say that i havent tried wearing colored contact lens myself. My eyes are blurred and i dont like wearing glasses so i wear contact lens for more than 3 years now. Some time in my 2nd year of wearing them, i bought the colored ones (i've tried gray and amethyst) to look different. You see, my eyes are black so i thought i might try changing the color to make it look different and more attractive. However, i prefer dark colors or something that would be natural instead of bright or really light colors like blue, green,or yellow because it would look too fake. But i have stopped wearing them already because they are more expensive and more prone to damage than clear ones.

I remember people wearing them and the lens would move about and you'd see color where there shouldn't be color. Freaked me out.

I do wear contacts but I really need them. Forget being able to see the clock in the middle of the night if I took them out before bed! I go have the clear contacts that are extended wear so I can wear them when I sleep. But I also have the enhancers. I have hazel eyes that is a mixture of brown, green, and gold...then they are circled with a very dark ring that looks black. Pretty cool I think, so I like my eyes. But every now and then, I will wear the enhancers that bring out the green more. It does not alter the color of my eyes to be completely different...those are very hard to see out of. But as I said, it just enhances what I already have. Very cool!!! Especially with the dark ring. :)

That's pretty cool! Your eyes must just POP with the enhancers! I think that enhancer are much better than the contacts that change your eye color. :)

I used to wear contacts before I had Lasik surgery. My eye doctor would not prescribe the colored lenses. He believed that they dye used in them was not good for the eyes. I never really pursued this to find out if it was fact, because I really didn't care. At my last job, I saw a patient for his initial visit with me on Halloween, and he had BLACK contacts- the part that is normally blue or green or brown as well as the pupil were BLACK. It was really bizarre, but then again a lot of my patients were bizarre. That's why I loved them so much!

I am sure that your job was quite interesting and not boring due to your unique patients.

If I ever had to get glasses I would want to get contacts as I find with glasses I look like some old school teacher or librarian . If I got contacts I would want the colored one's as I have brown eyes and all my children and husband have blue eyes . I always wanted blue eyes and saw a friend one day with brown eyes with blue contacts and just really liked the color even though it was natural looking .

I am to the point where I may need to wear glasses for more than just reading. I will stick with the glasses. There is no way I can stick something in my eye.

As an optician, I have seen this so often. Some people get a few colors to match their clothes, and even their cars.

I don't know why people always do that. When I was in elementary, everyone that didn't need glasses wanted them, and everyone that needed them didn't want them. I have contacts and I love them. They are not colored, because I love my eyes just the way they are. I think that people that do not need contacts or glasses shouldn't be allowed to have them. They just change it for the eye color. And, that is just silly! But, colored contacts can be pretty...but enchancers are a lot better!! :D

The problems you can get from putting contacts in and improper cleansing, etc. would make me definitely never do it for the simple effect of changing my eye color. It's one thing to buy them in colors AND with a prescription. But just to change eye color.. no thanks! Then again, I cannot imagine having people cut me all up and putting parts in and pulling parts out just to look "cuter" either! LOL So I guess it depends on what type of person you are!

I remember those from highschool. Most looked so fake...especially the violet ones. I tried out contacts, because of bad vision, and couldn't stand them so I can't imagine wearing them just for some weird eye color change.

I've never used contacts, and I never did understand why changing your eye color by using contacts was so cool. A friend of mine had contacts that turned her eyes blue (she needed contacts to see as well, not just for the eye color change). I thought they were ugly. She has naturally brown eyes, but the blue contacts made her eyes look sort of creepy. I never jumped on the contact fad. I just wear glasses. I think glasses can be very stylish and cool looking on their own =)

well according to me natural is natural .god gives colour to our eyes and we should go on with what we got from god.well and i herd that wearing contacts are dangerous to our eyes so we have to prevent using contacts.

If I wore contacts I would not get them just to change the color of my eyes. I think it is silly to do that as they should be purchased to help your vision. If it is purchased to help your vision and you wanted to have a different color then I would be okay with that but not for just eye color change. I do not care what the eye color of a person is as all colors are fine to me.

Yeah, I remember going through that myself. But, it was alot to handle and I never had time to take care of them. So, I lost them somehow and I got out of that phase, thankfully. I like my natural eyes color now.

Hmmm... Seriously, I think you have to consider whether if you wear a colored contact lens, does the colored lens color cover the natural color of your eyes. If it doesn't really cover the natural color of your eyes, then why spend money to buy colored lens?

i wear glasses now but when i did wear contacts i just had the plain clear ones because i needed special contacts because my eyes are so bad. My bf also wears contacts and he gets blue ones, which i love on him, but now he wants to get stupid ones like red or purple and i tell him that he is insane.

My family is very active in sports, soccer, baseball and basketball. Glasses are not the greatest to wear when being that active. The coaches suggest contacts when they accept a player that is wearing glasses. Glasses are also hot and inconvient to wear. With contacts you feel like your natural self. I don't wear either yet, but will have to make a discision soon. My eyesite is failing. Over 50, it's also a natural thing. I would like contacts if my eyesite requires constant correcting, but glasses if only need corrected for driving and reading. As far as colored contacts go, I think they are very pretty. The blue contacts really bring out your eyes. I have hazel which is almost brown, so brown contacts would look good on me. Might think about it if they were comparable in price, but contacts tear too easy to spend a lot on them.
