I have read all the books 1-6 and yes the movies are different. In my opinion though because they movies were already so long that it just wasn't possible to do them exactly the way the books are written. I don't think they would have been as good as they were. I think that they did a great job converting the books into movies and keeping with the story line as they did. I hope they continue to do so with all of them.

Films are rarely made exactly to what the books say, most of the time it is not possible as the books contain too much information and so the film would be too long and boring.

In my opinion the movie is never as good as the book. The book allows you to see the character's thoughts and points out things in the situation you maybe would not notice yourself.

Yes there is a difference between the two. Books seem to have more detail than the movies do. Like the last Potter the book was much better then the movie. I was disappointed in the movie.
