I don't think of gernerosity as an ego boost, sure it feel good to be generous but doesn't everyone like to feel good, the person receiving feels good but then there are many ways of being generous...

No not at all. But sometimes, peole take you for a ride if you are generous. They think you don't know when they try to play on your intelligent. Be careful with your generousity.

That is the reason you must weigh the needs of the person that you are reaching out to and provide what is needed not what is wanted

It never means being a dummy. If you are truly generous you dont give without thought and you dont enable those who have problems that is not generosity just to give money. Generous with advice and good works is much better than doling out money

I do not think that being generous is a bad thing at all because you are being nice to others out of a goodness of your heart. I think that is really a good thing, considering that not everyone is generous.

Well now a days being too much generous can lead to make one self dummy. Today's world less people are concern about the welfare of others. One big example is that if a person is more generaous more is the change the other people taking advantage of the person. There is an old saying in our language is that dig the wet sand. This means if a person is too generous others will start digging the sand or take advantage of the person.

SOme take generosity as bragging rights for what they've done, others consider it a weakness to take advantage of. I have a generous nature but I dont brag and occasionally I do get taken advantage of, but I dont let it stop me, I know not everyone is bad and is out to leech off your kindess! Hope this helps!
