in my course i was taught that high blood pressure is one of the defense mechanisms of the body whenever there is some abnormality in the normal fauna and flora in our bodies.. so then it is some sypmtom whenever your normal body mexhanics are altered. here are some other facts..
High blood pressure or hypertension means high pressure (tension) in the arteries. The arteries are the vessels that carry blood from the pumping heart to all of the tissues and organs of the body. High blood pressure does not mean excessive emotional tension, although emotional tension and stress can temporarily increase the blood pressure. Normal blood pressure is below 120/80; blood pressure between 120/80 and 139/89 is called “pre-hypertension”, and a blood pressure of 140/90 or above is considered high blood pressure. The systolic blood pressure, which is the top number, represents the pressure in the arteries as the heart contracts and pumps blood into the arteries. The diastolic pressure, which is the bottom number, represents the pressure in the arteries as the heart relaxes after the contraction. The diastolic pressure, therefore, reflects the minimum pressure to which the arteries are exposed.

Yes, it is a symptom of many different conditions but it is also very much a condition in itself. People can suffer from hypertension without having any other condition if, for example, they have a stressful job, etc. The hypertension can then lead to other conditions but it is a problem on its own.
Hypertension is where the blood pressure is elevated over an extended period of time which makes it a condition, whereas symptomatic blood pressure generally only lasts as long as the illness causing it does.

Good to hear that, joey. Any abrupt change on it you have to bring her to a doctor, give her a call just for a reminder to her.

Well for hypertension or BP, medicines are not solution. Do Meditation, try breathing exercise, it will help you balance and handle hypertension.

high blood pressure is a symptom and a disease in itself... its usually a symptom of its own complications.High blood pressure (HBP) or hypertension means high pressure (tension) in the arteries. Arteries are vessels that carry blood from the pumping heart to all the tissues and organs of the body. High blood pressure does not mean excessive emotional tension, although emotional tension and stress can temporarily increase blood pressure. Normal blood pressure is below 120/80; blood pressure between 120/80 and 139/89 is called "pre-hypertension", and a blood pressure of 140/90 or above is considered high. The top number, the systolic blood pressure, corresponds to the pressure in the arteries as the heart contracts and pumps blood forward into the arteries. The bottom number, the diastolic pressure, represents the pressure in the arteries as the heart relaxes after the contraction. The diastolic pressure reflects the lowest pressure to which the arteries are exposed.
