Telling someone close to you it's time to give up the keys is a dilemma we'll all have to face some time in our lives.

Arrrggg...just reading your post made my stomach start churning. Man I had to grapple with this myself. When my stepfather started ailing and I knew he had to come off the highway I first tried talking to him..gezzz that did no good. Then I told him matter of factly if he was not going to surrender his keys my children absolutly could not ride with him any longer. That broke his heart, yet he still refused and let me tell you this man could not drive.. he was running redlights speeding , I was very frightened for him. Finally I made an appointment with his doctor and we talked about it.The Dr had his license removed and Dad was none the wiser that it was I who had really had them removed. It was not long after that he had a slight stroke and finally accepted that he was going to have to be driven when he needed to get somewhere. But good luck if this is what you are facing it is not easy trust me!

Oh I don't know. My mother never drove so I don't have to face that problem. I am glad of it now cause she is very stubborn and I probably wouldn't be able to stop her. I use to work for an optometrist and sometimes the children would ask us to tell them if their vision was bad.
