Angiography is when a doctor introduces a dye (through a vein in the leg) into your blood vessels so that he can "map" your circulatory system. By using this diagnostic procedure, he can see if there are blockages in your blood vessels. Angioplasty is the procedure where a doctor goes inside your blood vessel to fix the clogged vessel. They scrap of cut off the clogging matter and sometimes install a stent (kinda like a support beam for your blood vessel) to help maintain the opening in the blood vessel.

What are angiography and angiolasty? Angiography is a procedure that we use to give us a picture of your child's blood vessels and organs. Looding at the blood-flow through the vessels that supply an organ such as the heart can show up problems with the organ itself. A special dye (known as "contrast medium") is injected into your child's blood vessles so they will show up on an x-ray. The dye is suitable for most children and young adult, unless they have previously had an allergic reaction to it. Angioplasty is a procedure in which a blocked or narrowed blood vessel is enlarged by stretching it from inside. It is often done at the same time as angiography.
