SLOAN: aging rock band

last night i went to see the canadian band sloan, perform a show at an intimate setting. watching them i suddenly realized how old they all are, how old*I* am!!! seems like yesterday, i was sitting with band members patrick and jay, while they childishly fought over who the baby in the band was!when the band walked onto the stage, it was like a sea of grey hair:( don't get me wrong, i have nothing against grey hair (i've got me some too!), in fact i find drummer andrew more handsome as an older version of his former self (grey hair included) in any case, they did still kick butt, though they mostly played newer songs that i've never heard. they seemed to have all but lost their fuzzy, sappy pop chant-rock that made them so good in the 90's. their newer stuff is much more rock-oriented, which is fine, but i miss the old sloan with their jangly guitars and cutesy witty lyrics. in any case, i know there is so far only one other admitted sloan fan on mylot, but i figured what the heck, i'll post this anyway. here's a photo i took of the show.
