I don't think gender is a good way to judge intelligence. There have been intelligent men and women in every field. I have know lots of intelligent men and women. It took a lot of years for men to allow women to develop their intelligence potential, but now the sky's the limit. I always think of Abigail Adams, the wife of our 2nd president. She was an extremely intelligent lady, and she spent her entire life regretting that she had no formal education.
