They do pay promptly, but the pay can vary widely. Some people on Mylot have made as much as $15 or more per article, others as little as $3. It depends on the subject, the use of keywords, etc.
What kind of offers have you been getting? I'm with them but basically stick to the special offers that pay a guaranteed amount.

Hey Sunshine, I'm already an affiliate with AC, do you have anything else you are looking to refer? Right now I'm really trying to refer people to clixsense. Why?
