I am normally a very quick typer! In school i used to get over a hundered words a minute and i wasn't even as quick then as i am now! The point of this anyway is since i have beena mylot addict...LMAO!!! I have noticed that all this posting, responding, commenting and discussing has increased my typing speed tremendously!!! I am not even joking i can speed through this site! My fingers go so fast now that i can barely see them moving...LMAO!!! Do you think being here on mylot may have increased your typing speed at all???

I think it has increased my speed. I never typed this much before. Though I am no where near the speed of light. Errors still plague me . That is what slows me down the most.

I have to agree that errors also slow me down and the funniest thing about me is that my keyboard is so worn out from me using it so much that you can not even see the letters on the keys anymore...LOL!! That is how much i use this thing and it was a brand new keyboard 8 months ago...LOL!!!

I have always been a fast typer, and it has been my only real skill. Now we have IM, Mylot and chat rooms I am in my element lol. I am virtually deaf so find holding my own in a conversation quite hard, but here in virtual land I am out there with the fastest! My speed has not increased but it hasn't slowed either. In chat rooms I am always being asked to slow down :-)

LOL...You sound like you are something like me when it comes to my typing. I am also asked to slow down or find myself constantly waiting for a response whenever i do decide to chat!

yes, lol. I do try to slow down when I know the other person is having problems though, partly because I don't want to discourage them from joining in conversations, and partly because they will never improve their speed if they are not given the space to develop it. I bet you love it when you find someone who can respond as quickly as you do though :-)

I had never taken any typing courses in school and by the time computers came out,I went straight to the hunt-and-peck method. However,I had noticed that since I have been on chat lines-and lately,in MyLot- my typing speed and accuracy have sped up.Although I still type with my head down and two fingers,I have reached up to my personal best of 25 plus words a minute.

My typing is awful, simply awful. I am not good starter in typing. I am awfully slow. I can type 10 words per miniute at most. I can write more words manually. I never tried to learn typing. Do you why I started typing? I started typing because ofmy bad handwriting which nobody can go through so easily. Sometime I too can't understand my own bad handwriting. I too became very concerned about it and started feeling jittery. And at long last I decided to go for typing. But I didb't learn the basics of typewriting. That is why I just my forward my fingers at the particular letters of the keyboard. I still do this way. Thogh I have caught up a bit, still I am awfully slow. I have just learnt to live this way.

Thank you for such an informative story and io am glad that your typing has improved a bit. Also it is good to know that you chose typing as an alternative to your handwriting!

I did typing at school too and I got my speed up to about 60 wpm with 99% accuracy. I was one of the fastest typist in the class (there was 1 person who made it past 80) and no one during the whole time I was at school ever got close to 130 wpm, that is lightning speed. Now though I think my speed would be about 45wpm and I'm pretty happy with that.

I tend to type really fast. I admit there are some errors all the time. But what is a pencil without and eraser? We are all bound for mistakes here and there and this is why the keyboard has a backspace. But I can type 89 wpm. I have increased in general, not just because of mylot. I just joined anyway. But I am on the internet a lot and I try to work my fingers so that I can type as much as I need to and never have ti stop. My job history is amazing. LOL.

I don't know how much WPM (words per minute) I can type but I'm quite fast at typing and normally don't type with errors, I've been working with computers for almost 10 years now even though only 4 and a half of it where with internet 24h a day which made me write a lot more than I usually did, talking with friends on MSN Messenger, chats, forums, whatever.

Yes i have to agree that chatting on my yahoo and msn messengers have also helped to increase my speed. My lot has increased it drastically though. I think it is because i try to push myself to answer all of my responses!

hello friend, I never really time how fast i type but i type pretty fast, and since i never take any typing class in school, i guess i do pretty good, sometime i can like to show off and type without looking at the keyboard and just think of what i have to say and just type it away. most of the time i get it right so it is not bad

I took some typing classes in high school and that really helped. Now, I work on a computer as data entry and my speed is slowly increasing. As for my accuracy, I'm pretty sure that it is still really bad. I think I try to type too fast and mess myself up all the time.

Well there is no way that you mess yourself up all the time! You just wrote a perfect response without a single mistake. Besides this none of us are perfect and we never will be but i am glad that you feel that yoru speed is gradually increasing though!
