Week end travel, trekking, one day picknic spots from bangalore...

Which are your favourite places for one day travel? Or week-end hangouts? Mekedatu, Nandi hills, Bannerghatta, Savan Durga, Shiva Gange, Ranga sthala - are some places I like visiting. Friends pls add interesting places around bangalore and share your experience.

Unlike India, Sri Lanka where I live is a very small island, and you can go halfway across the country in one day. So we can go to the hill capital Kandy which is about 2 and a half hours drive from Colombo. In Kandy we have the world famous Peradeniya Botanical gardens where we can picnic and trek for half the day and return to Colombo.

Nice to hear from Srilanka, I heard it is a beautiful country with plenty of natural picnic spots. My cricket hero, Rahul Dravid was into Srilanka for his honeymoon as well. I wanna visit Srilanka someday :)
