So I went to the dr yesterday and talked with the doctor. The doctor prescribed me Prozac. I told him I didn't want to have the Zoloft b/c what it did to my sister. I have no much detail about the medication then but what the little piece of paper that goes with it says. That is not enough for me. I must know more about it. Can you help me?

These discussions really hurt. I don't think I can participate in discussions on depression. I just get too upset when 19 year old beautiful women feel they have to get a pill to sort out their emotions. Emotions are a part of being human. You want to be a zombie and cut off a part of yourself. What about counselling first? What about talking about your emotions? Maybe pills are cheaper than counselling, is that the problem? Do people think this is the only way? Any self-help groups in your area that can help? Please make me try to understand this epidemic of pill popping to solve emotional issues.

Medication that helps with depression is helping. This is a medication that is helping a chemical imbalance in your brain and you say that it is normal. Depression is very painful emotionalling and to your life style. I almost lost the boyfriend over my episodes. I would rather that I am on medication that help then nothing at all and loose him. thank you for the response
