ive noticed in our family, that some of the children dont eat the healthiest snacks. my cousin who is 2 eats chocolate chip cookies, candy, sugar filled stuff. while im not knocking parents that choose to give thier kids those foods, i prefer my son eat healthy . for snacks to make him feel like he gets what his cousins do, he gets the fruit to go bars which have no added sugar and we call that his candy, he gets apples, grapes, yogurt, all that kind of stuff. he just came up to me and asked me for some baby carrots as a snack . he is also 2. there is something inside of me that just beams with pride that my son asks me to snack on carrots instead of chocolate. so what do you feed your kids?

i think homemade stuff is better than store bought stuff, atleast you know for sure what is in it and can control the sugar content.

i've got to say i am sometimes guilty of feeding my 3 year old daughter crap but i'm also proud of her for making the right desicions. i'm a big junk eater so that's why i buy it but my daughter will eat fruit before cookies if it's in the fridge. so it's just later on in the week before the next grocery day that i don't have fresh fruit for her but she does get a pretty balanced diet. she loves loves veggies and won't eat processed foods like hot dogs and chicken nuggets. her meals consists of like 3 types of veggies and meat so she eats really healthy for meals so a few cookies as snacks now and then won't hurt her.

i agree with that totaly. im talking about people like my brother and sister in law who offer thier 2 year old candy( im talking snickers bars here) instead of offering her fruit. i think it is great your daughter eats so well.

My kids have grown up but I do have grandchildren and for their snacks I give them fruit applies, bananas, oranges, pineapple and I also give them carrots cut into pieces for them. I prefer them to eat something healthy as well not junk food.

I feed my son mostly fruit for snacks. He don't like veg's yet. I give him sugar occasionally but only when he shares with me. I don't think parents should give toddlers candy and cookies and other sugars. My son is doing so good that he had a dentist visit last week and his dentist said he has A+ teeth. I am a proud mom to give him healthy snacks mostly.

I used to take care of a couple of boys who never ate veggies. One day I decided to put a little honey in with a can of green beans and they loved it. I know it's sweet but it's natural and not refined. After that they would at least have a couple of bites of whatever veggies we made for them. Good luck and remember tastes change constantly so never give up trying

I don't give my kids any suggary snacks at all. They usually have fruit, nuts or seeds and very occasionally crisps. I know a lot of parents who give their kids chocolate every day after dinner and have chocolate bars, yogurts and cakes in their lunchboxes. I am always happy that my daughters eat a healthy diet.

I am very strict with what my kids eat. Don't get me wrong, they have their sweets, but I push for low sugar or sugar free. Soda (Sprite) if we go out to dinner is their treat. But applesauce, gogurts, fruit, pretzels etc... I very seldom buy juice boxes, even the 100% is loaded with sugar. I buy the small water bottles for school. Now, if you offer my kids candy or an apple, of course they would take the candy. But while I am in control of what they eat, I try to stay with snacks that are good for them. (Funny, my daughter had to make a snowman for school for a project...We make an edible one of candy. But not to be ate) Hello kettle...Your black. LOLOL

My mum gave me sweets when I was good as a reward , I think this is why I am cuddly now as I reward myself with them now too xx

My niece is 2. She is with me for 20 hours a day Monday through Friday. And most of the time all day and night Saturday, then for a few hours Sunday morning & again Sunday night. Her mom hates all veggies and fruites but I love vegtables and most fruites. Because she is with me most of the time, she has more of my eating habitis then her moms (thank god). Her favoriate snack is a tomatoe. She loves them. It dont matter if it's canned or fresh either. Her other top picks are brocilli (sp?) spinich, green beans, corn & carrots. I go grociery shoppin on Saturdays and let her pick something sweet for the day. She usally gets peanut butter cups, M&M's or chips. Other then that she eats mostly stuff that is good for her. but when she's at her moms all she eats is chocolate & pop or tea. She's usally not with her mom for more then 15 hours a week if that.

Yes I do. Once in awhile I will get them a candy but our weekly grocery visits always include nothing but fruit for their snacks. Lots of oranges and apples, and they're happy with it.
