I'm turning 53 next month. I want to learn a programming language to the level of competency enough to write softwares for automation. The last time I did a formal schooling was in my late 40's when I learned Autocad, I felt awkward because my teachers called me sir. Do you think doing a self study is enough? What programs can I use which are user friendly and easy to learn? Any practical advise?
