I would have to say the Red Heeler due to they are extremly bright, loyal and very well bahaved. They are very easy to train and are very loyal to their owners.

well, we had a german sheapard when we were younger and he never bit us or anything. we were given a female dog from our friend and our dog made puppies with her. the puppies grew up like the dad and didnt bite anyone. as we grew, we got different dogs and all of them werent really trained and would jump on people and bite everyone. we now have a pit bull and she does the same, she is too hyper.

I think Labs are very well behaved if trained well. I use Labs to hunt with mostly and we have 2 Labs now. Labs are a bit big for real small children but if you have an older Lab that is already trained and calm from age, then it would be good around little kids. Otherwise, a young Lab even with training might be a little too rough on a small kid. They grow real fast and will soon be alot bigger than the small child. But I like Labs the best. They are very smart dogs.
