This is a short documentary film made by a teenager who decided to do a social experiment to see if things have changed over the years. Wow this is quite interesting and can leave you feeling really sad!!! So what are your thoughts about this?? How does it make you feel about people these days?? http://www.komotv.com/home/video/5001856.html?video=YHI&t=a The video is short so give it a quick watch and then let us know how it makes you feel!!!

I just got done watching the video. It was very sad, but I was surprised. I expected this students' results to be "better" than those obtained 50 years ago. I know that racism still exists, and that it most likely always will. But at least today there are more and more TV shoes and movies with African American stars; there are dolls that are black, white, and even Asian, there are integrated classrooms and neighborhoods. I would have hoped to see more pride in their own race from these children. I have to wonder what is going on in the homes of these kids? Where are they getting these mindsets from? Maybe I'm naive, but I really thought that things were getting better in the U.S. as far as racism goes.

I know - I would have thought the same thing too!! With the amount of time that has gone by since the last time this was done with children I was hoping for different results. And I too agree with you that these days it would appear that things have changed but I guess in reality not - after watching this video. I too am wondering what these childrena are being taught in their own homes that would make them think the white doll is the good doll and the black one is the bad doll!!! That really saddens me to no end because in my opinion I think that anyone of any color who is racist is totally disgusting!!!! It's so wrong!!!

I just got through watching the clip, I would love to see the whole documentary. I am stunned, but on the other hand is it that surprising? Racism has not changed at all, but I think that it is veiled, cloaked if you will behind empty words fruitless actions. What is surprising to me though is why aren't these children gaining strength in thier own homes from birth. I believe thats where change has to start.

I was thinking the exact same thing - I guess it's really not that surprising to me either but I sure would have thought that the parents of these children would have been taught that no matter what color you are - you can be anything you desire - and no one is any better than you are!!!
