I love these two breed of dogs but I have herd so many horror stories about Doberman Pinchers turning on their owners. Can anyone who has experience with Dobermans' please tell me if this is true or not. I believe both are very loyal devoted pets, is one nore trust worthy than the other. Thanks.

Doberman Pincer - One of the sweetest dogs ever born & one with a reputation it doesn't deserve!!!
I had 2 Doberman Pincers...one with s 3 year old child. They are the SWEETEST dogs. I had heard all the horror stories too;so, when my hubby decided he just had to have one, I spoke with numerous vets. They all suggested that I stay away from the females as they can be overly protective especially with children. They also said that even a Chihuahua could be trained to be aggressive!!! We adopted a male Dobe & he was the PERFECT playmate for our toddler. We lived in a ground floor apartment & on weekends while I was cleaning the house, I'd chain him outside on a 25 foot leash. I had sat our daughter outside while I was mopping the floor one day. As I stepped out the door, to finish mopping, I noticed my daughter running across the yard with the dog on her heels. I knew that I wouldn't get to her in time so I screamed. Just then, the dog grabbed her by the seat of her pants & pulled her back to where I was standing. I found he was the PERFECT babysitter as he let NO ONE get near her & she never got further away from my back door as his leash would allow. Every time she tried to leave the yard, he'd grab the seat of her pants & pull her back to the door. He never once growled at her even tho she rolled all over him, pulled his ears & pinched his lips. He watched her like a hawk!!! My neighbor has a Rottweiler & he is a BIG BABY too!!! When he gets between his owner & a stranger, he seems to be fierce. However, when inside the house & he knows you, he's a big baby. He cries when he doesn't get enough attention. He lays on the sofa with his head in the owner's lap. I've NEVER seem him even appear to lose his temper!!!

Sounds like that Dobie was very loyal to you and your family. I know they get a very bad rap. Thanks.

One of the best breeds I've ever had!!! I lived in Washington DC at the time & felt safer driving a night with either of them in the car with me. The one that took such good care of my stepdaughter was my favorite of the 2.

Thank you my friend, 9 Dobies and none of them ever turned on you, that is good to know. I guess it is not the dog but how the owner raises him. Thanks (+) for you.

I like both breedes . I am skittish around them , only cause the ones I knew the owner had no control of them. Both dogs were very excitable , so whenever anyone came around the corner they would come bounding towards whoever it was BARKING. All anyone could was rhose big teeth in their face . Once the dogs got to you they only want you to pat them . Still I don`t really trust them because of that one reason . If the owner does have control than I feel comfortable around them , it depends on the animal i guess.

Good question! I have no experience with either dog, I have experience with a pit bull. They get a bad rap too, but dogs are only the way they are raised. I love both dogs, I have cats but if I had a home of my own I would own dogs as well. Dobies are wonderful dogs and so are Rotts. I have a great story about Dobies. It is a true story, it is about my dogs' vet when I was a kid. The vet had a home invasion, the dogs, (Dobies) were trained to let a person in, not let them out. Two burgalars broke into the vet's home. The dogs stayed quiet. When the invaders were about to leave with the family goods, the dogs would not let them out of the house. They only detained them. One guy tried to hurt the dog to get out of the house, the dog bit him. The other guy stayed still, he was not bitten. When the vet got home he called the police. The guys were arrested, and the one who was bitten had the nerve to try to press charges for being bitten. Needless to say, it did not work. Dogs are how they are raised. If you raise them in a loving environment, they will thrive and be very faithful. I do not believe that dogs turn on their owners without a reason.

everithing depends on how you raise the dog,,first you need to get them as puppies then its on you ,,how you raise the doggie,,,i always turn them into very friendly with everybody,,and open their confidence to the maximum so i can kiss them on top of their nose wich i love to do... ,,,,buddy it doesnt matter if you have a baby lion everything depends on how you raise them,,,,,
