Ever since I was a litle girl I have wanted a VW Camper, the older and cuter the better. Does anyone here have one or any memories of them to share with me? I want a 1972 Bay window in any colour, that I can match to the camper of my, I have been advised not to get a splitty although they are even sweeter!

well I am a bit cross at the moment Rainbow, as I had arranged to buy a caravan, not quite a camper van, but it was a fond little daydream I had and I lost out because Him Indoors bought tools! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. So when you get your camper, you get out there and enjoy yourself for the both of us!

bless you, I hope you get your little caravan soon they're lovely!I've got a caravan, it was the one Shrek had holidays in as a little boy and it's about 26 years old so I made turquoise and cerise curtains and put wind chrams and a bead door curtain up. The seats aver black and white camoflage, it's really cute. we go away when we can, last year the wind tried to take the awnoing off and we had to tie it down with washing line, what a laugh it the rain at 3am. I really want a camper tho' they're so cute and I'll be able to get all the litle cute bits to put on it, shame a decent restored one costs nearly as much as my bungalow, what a mad world.

Well, the lady who didn't sell me the caravan got a lovely grandfather clock in exchange for it. I am a bit of a dealer and I know she did a VERY good swap there. Much more than the 400 she wanted for the caravan! So I can not begrudge her. I shall get a caravan later, but I must confess that a static would be better as I could get income from it as well. I haven't given up the idea of a camper van either, Other Half just doesn't know yet lololol.

We had a VW camper/van? (same thing?) when I was really little. It was really cool.. I think it was yellow. We used to take it camping. Then one year a tree on my street fell down right on top of it, and trashed it. :(

That's a really sad story, what a shame, I'm glad you enjoyed camping in it when you were little!

I do remember the VW campers, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought they were referred to as Caravans on your side of the pond? We never owned one, but I know what you mean. As a kid I always thought that it would be so cool to have one. Cheers!

VW Campers - VW Camperdreams
Campervans usually, the language is complicated caravans get pulled behind your car, campervans have mean little engines that are famous for breaking, lol. Tried to load a picture before but it wouldn't work. I just love the whole lifestyle thing, as I have said before I was borm too late, lol

Splitty's do require more work since they are older then the baywindows. We currently have 3 baywindow buses. Our 1975 seats 7, our 1979 is a sportsmobile camperthat sleeps 4 with an option for a childs cot which would then sleep 5. We also have a 1971 camper that currently sleeps 2. Try www.thesamba.com for buses that are for sale. There are some great forums such as www.fullmoonbusclub.com and www.lovemybus.com both are free and gives you tons of help! They are great on gas and provide lots of fun!
