Can you live without a car?

I drive my car everywhere. I am thinking about getting rid of it. There are different modes of transportation I could use, but am not completely sure for you never know when you might need to get somewhere in a hurry. Who is getting by without a car? Do you wish you had a car? What are the pros and cons?

We have not had a car for transportation in several years, we live about a 20 minute walk from the city and the public bus stop is right across the street. Sometimes it can be inconvient though, like when you need to get somewhere fast or when you have alot of bags such as for groceries, but we get by.

I think that if you had to get used to being without a car you could. It might take some time getting used to, but you might find you save alot of money on car insurance and gas. As far as transporting lots of grocery bags goes, I think there are alot of supermarkets that will deliver your groceries for free. Most people tip, though.

That is true. I have traveled through out Europe and they have in my opinion have many options to not driving a car. You can take a bus, taxi or train to most places. Most people there walk everywhere. In China, a lot of them ride bikes.

I would love to live without a car. However, circumstances do not warrant so. Travelling to work and during work requires constant usage of my car. During weekends, the family needs a break and the car is needed again. How I wish a day will come when public transportation systems everywhere will be so efficient that there is no need for us to own a car mandatorily.

I could not live without my car as we are quite a way from anywhere with any good public transport, the local buses only run twice a day, on Greek time of course, which means half an hour either side of the scheduled time. In the UK I used public transport all the time as it was too expensive to park a car in the city.

Yes, i can live without a car because in my oppinion we can live with a bycicle or using the bus, its easy although the problem for the most people is that to have his own car is much more comfortable for them, have a nice day on mylot and happy earnings also.
