..when people respond to topics and after every few words, they hit enter and start on a new line a bit like this? It really annoys me. I know what they are trying to do. They are trying to cheat myLot into thinking that they have written a lot. What do you think?

I do this all the time. It is not to cheat myLot. I assure you that when a computer program counts words, it is not fooled by spaces or extra lines. I know this as I am a computer programmer. So, why do I do it? It is too give the post something like a paragraph stucture so that it is not only easier to read, but also easier to understand. Try reading a 500 word response that has no breaks in it. To me these posts are practically incomprehensible. Anyway, so now you know. Now, here is the same post without the breaks. You misunderstood me my friend. I did not mean breaking your response into paragraphs, that is absolutely fine. I meant when people break say one sentence into many lines. For example, a normal sentence would be: I went to the park and had lunch with my friend. But some people write it like this. I went to the park and had lunch with my friend. There is a difference between wha t you are doing and what THEY are doing. Also, these people are most probably not computer programmers, so obviously they would not know that it is not possible to cheat like that.

OOPS, sorry about that. Thanks, for the explanation. I change my response to, "Yes, you are right!"

Does myLot distinguish by number of words, number of lines or both? I don't know. I do break up my longer posts into paragraphs with spaces between them but it's because large blocks of text are a pain to read. I don't try to add extra lines for the sake of adding extra lines and I don't break sentences into lines beyond the natural breaks.

Breaking your response into paragraphs is alright, I do that all the time aswell. It makes longer posts easier to read. What I mean is when people break one sentence onto many lines. Check out the example I gave in response #3 to get a better understanding.

Yes, I do see what you mean. Perhaps they think they are poets. :)

I am sure that if MyLot does pay use per line, they take into account how many characters are on each line. Yes I do find it annoying. Another thing that gets under my skin are people who use exclamation points at the end of every sentence or randomly throughout their sentences.

You know I never really thought about it. I just thought it was their way of expressing their thoughts or opinions. But maybe you are right!

Yes, I'm sure they think that they are going to make more money this way whilst writing less, but I'm also sure that myLot is not that stupid. But what annoys me most is that they actually think it is going to work!
