What do you think of President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela?

He called Condoleeza 'Missy" and tells the U.S. to 'go to hel*' He is called a fiery leftest and was re elected by a wide margin. He wants to remake Venezuela into a socialist state. Is that a bad thing? So is he a problem or just a strong leader?

The guy's a nut job. His ideas aren't new, but a step backwards. Socialism already failed as shown with the collapse of communism. His idol, Fidel Castro doesn't even trust his country's doctors which Castro claims are the best products of socialism. He had to secretly go abroad to be treated. If he is so good, why do many Venezuaelan's still pour in to America instead of staying in their country?

Thanks for responding. I am concerned about him. And since many still think that America has streets lined with gold that may be why they come here, besides the freedoms and open borders.

It makes me wonder if that election was rigged? He's far to leftist for my liking and comfort. There is just so much unrest in Venezuela that he frightens me.

Glad you know of him a bit. He is a wide cannon and am sure if he really is about to mess with the oil business we are too dependent on! Thanks for responding.

He is just like saddam trying to get notoriety for thumbing his nose at the power of the USA. He may not make the same misteaks and actually take action against the USA. socialism can be good but in moderation many previous conversions of power havent worked.

I actually think this guy is working to find a way to control the oil so that he can hurt the US. I have heard him some and that is my impression of him. Heard another program on the radio and they seem to think along those lines. We will have to wait and see and then watch to see if the current President is able to do anything about it. Thanks for responding.

I think any leader that tells another country to go to h3ll has a serious issue! I don't follow politics because it just makes my head spin and then puke like the exorcist! But I can say that I would think any leader that wants to lead the country would have a more diplomatic tongue. If that leader can not properly express him or herself properly without using insulting words, then I do not see how that one would have enough diplomacy to run a country.

Thanks for responding, I hadn't quite thought of him that way. I don't normally follow much politics either, however, this guy has caught my attention. So bold to come here and speak so poory while here on our soil. Amazing. I think he has an agenda and is boldly going about it while we are focuses on the mid east.

I agree that he's got a big mouth but I think that his actons are in the corect path, the way I see it. What exactly do you mean by "fiery leftist"? And I don't see anything bad in making Venezuela a socialist state(unless it's already one), venezuela is sort of a undeclared socialist state. He maybe causing problems by over speaking but I think he's just a strong leader.

Well he is now telling oil companies to play his way or leave his country. Hope that is all going to work out for him and his country. Thanks so much for responding!

Chavez might be exactly what the people of Venezuela need. There's a lot of poverty there and I think he intends to help lift people out of poverty. I wouldn't want to live in a socialist state, but that might be what millions of poor Venezuelans need.

Indeed he may be someone that can help his country. His ideas may be a be a bit radical so we shall have to see what happens. Thanks for responding.

I think that trying to cause dissension can be very wrong. Picking on someone just because you can is a form of bullying.
