Now we got a sport for the adventurous spirit, like me, lmao! For this you will need a underwater detector, so if can get fully wet witout killing your machine. You can find many thing in the lakes themselves. Old swimming holes are good. Look for where all the kids swim, you can tell because they will have a rope hanging in the tree to swing on. Search under this rope if possible. When you come back to jump off the rope, whatever is in your pockets, will sink directly to the ground! :) I don't suggest this kind of hunting be done in florida with all the alligators in our lakes, or anywhere there is dangerous water animals, it's just not worth risking your life....remember that! krissy

Wow that sounds really adventurous Tiggyann! I'm scared of any water i can't see in though - you never know what's there! So it's strictly swimming pools for me lol! Have you done this type of detecting before? What sorts of things have you found?! I've always loved the idea of metal detecting!

having a huge magnet to pick up metal underwater or in holes is a good idea. not all treasure is metal you would need other devices to retrieve that.

I dont think they should be swimming with the gators in Florida. The treasure would be eaten by the gators anyway, then you would have to look for treasure in gator dung.

Hi Krissy, nice interesting post. I never heard of lake hunting. What are you hunting for in those lakes? I thought only turtles and fish lived in lakes, except for the alligators in Florida.

What's a metal detector run? That would give my kid something productive to do if it isn't too pricey.

Thanks for your sharing of all these places that could be treasure trove of goodies just waiting to be found. Maybe someone could come up with a water version of detector. Wonder if divers have developed it already since some search for treasure in the sea! Thanks again for sharing these ideas.

and what are we hunting for money? valuables? *LOL* I'm too old to be doing this, but it does sound like it could be lucrative if done correctly!

Oh yes this is true and what an adventure I will have as I love swimming, oh no I would not go hunting in the lake where crocodiles are either as we do not have wild alligators here, thank goodness, and yes you are right it is not worth risking our lives.

no Thank you I can't not swim fast enough to get away from the gators and Steve Irwin has past so he won't be able to save me LOL (no pun intended to the family of Steve Irwin we lost a great man)

Sounds scary to me. I am scared of water so I think I will pass on this one. It does sound fun for those who enjoy water though.

I personally would not recommend most folks to jump in the waters in Florida or even Lousiana for that matter,I have seen gators in both states. As well as snakes.
