What is a true friend?

The word friend has often being taken lightly. We mistaked acquaintances, contacts, associates to be friends. But who actually would we consider as a real friend. To me a friend is one who will be there when I am in trouble. One who would not be the first to point the finger but only to say, I am with you. How about you today? What is your view of being a true friend?

For me a true friend is there in good and bad times, is someone you enjoy to spend time with and vice versa, no matter if whether it's for a cup of coffee or a day... Good friends are there to put you right when you're wrong, don't necessarely agree with you and certainly aren't an applause machine. Good friends love you no matter what, are willing to forgive you if you wronged them, an stick it out with you. All of this vice versa, of course. For me a good friend is worth his/her weight in gold. I had lovers in the past who didn't like all my friends, but I 'd rather kick out a lover than a long time friend. Most of my friends go back at least 30 years...

You will make a true friend by what you have just mentioned. Friends above lovers, that's wonderful. I suddenly remember that my true friend will be one who will stick with me through thick and thin. So far, there has been no true friend more than my own loving wife.

I believe that a true friend is someone that you enjoy spending time with. Someone that you can count on to be there for you no matter what. If you're having a hard day, a true friend would be there to listen to you and let you vent. Someone that will care for you even when it seems like no one else does.

True, a real friend must be one who is transparent with you. He or she will not hesitate to tell you about yourself, the good and the negative. Do we have friends like that? Most of the times, so called friends are too polite to tell us off.

Would you like to share with us who is your true friend? We like to know if you do have one. For example, my true friend is my wife. She has been all these years of marriage.

A true friend to me is someone who is there by your side no matter what. I lost a true friend a few years ago. She passed away and took all my confidences with her. My sister in law is a true friend to me. She has been living with me along with her daughter because my brother left them homeless. I have known her since we were kids. She has been there through thick and thin and I have been there for her. We have spent alot of time together since she has been living here for the past 2 months. She is truly a true friend.

I wish I have a true friend like that too. Whether it is a family member or an outsider, a true friend shines differently. Yes, they are always there when you need them. You just feel confident when you have a true friend.

I understand what you mean. However, true friends concretes their relationship with you over the years. It should not deteriorate but only cements further. That's my idea of a really true friend's relationship with me.

True friends are those who do something to you, without expecting anything in return. And he is the one who expects a lot from you, in terms and support and appreciation. It's mutually conflicting, but very much true. I have a very few, but gem of friends. I feel I am really lucky to have them as my friends.

True, a true friend gives and never expects. That speaks for my wife. All these years, she has given much and never expects to receive. We need to appreciate our true friends by rewarding them when they least expects it.

A true for me is somebody who has the courage to tell you your bad attitudes and attributes, and is that same person who will help you on correcting all of those negative aspects within YOU. A friend is someone who is there for you on lowest moment. A friend is someone whos is there when the world seem to have neglected you.

A friend is a person on whom you can confidently rely on to help pull you through the hard times, and hold you accountable for your actions. A friend is loyal, and a brother is born in a time of need. A friend will not judge you for who you are, but they will help you to grow in life.

The term friend always seems suferficial to me .I hardly remember so called friend ever coming in my way,I have heared no. of times , people saying that they were my friends, but hardly i remember any, who really went out of their way to b with me. But if u can categorise ur husband as a friend then i would say i have got the BETEST {MIND THAT WORD} of friend ever in my life...... He has been always there for me whatever may have come he has always been so forgiving for all my faults unlike me..... It really sometimes amazes me if there is any othr prsn like him who is so very kind, compassinate like him, we have been married for eight yrs but he behaves as if we got married just yestrday......if he can qualify as a friend then i can say he is the best friend i have ever got....no exaggeration...truely.... i have really being very very fortunate....and i wont leave him for the whole world....and i miss him so much since he abroad.....

I like your response. It gives me a deeper understanding. Do you have a lot of true friends around you. Have you given them a hug or a word of encouragement today? Keep them in your prayers always. God put them there for you.

I think a true friend is one who stands beside me no matter how bad a hair day I'm having, but is willing to slap me up side the head and say hey, "Wake up and smell the coffee, you're being a witch!!" They have to have the courage to face me and say that as well as be there to cover my back.

Yes, may you have your true friends always by your side. I have mine i.e. my wife. But she is the one who drinks most coffee. I am more disciplined not to have too much coffee, he he he.
