Did you hear this news where a 65 yr old lady clubbed and put a pen in a mountain lions eye when he attacked her hubby when they were hiking in a California state park ? her hubby was mauled badly and hospitalized but his life was saved coz his wife displayed this act of bravery. Are you that brave ? would you have done the same for your better half ? Have you ever been in a situation where you had to be brave – what did you do ?

Wow, that's amazing! Thankfully I have never been in a situation where I have had to be that brave, and if I was in the situation i'm not sure if I could have been that brave. However, strong emotions do strange things to us, i've heard of a story about a woman who mustered up the strength to pick up a car after it had collapsed on her husband - amazing. So who knows, if myself and my partner had been in the same situation, perhaps I may have surprised myself and attacked the lion.

I have heard that women can acquire superhuman strength when loved ones are at risk

I can't say that I have ever been put in that situation. But I can say that I sure would step in also! If the person that I loved was being mauled, I would have no other choice but to step in! I hope her husband makes a full recovery! I am sure that he is not only grateful that she saved him, but she also did not end up as a victim as well! Good for her! And being that age...makes the story even better!

Saw this on a news program this morning. They did right and the hubby when interviewed, oh poor guy!, explained what they tried to do. I too would fight for a loved one and the animals are definitely the ones I would prefer to fight. Rather than humans! Animals are more predictable and though this was a terrible incident it also tells us of how we are crowding out wildlife and in their own way, how they are adjusting. I have had to break up a dog fight before.

u r right indeed - we are entering 'their' territory - then again blaming 'them'. power abuse, i'd say :)

Wow..this is a very shocking news.. I can't imagine how brave she was to fight such a ferocious animal.. she must have loved her spouse so much..I think I am brave, but unless i am put in that situation, I can't really answer surely.. But i will try my best to save my wife..because I love her.

What a scary situation and brave for her to do what she did. I guess when you love someone you would do anything to save them in the line (lion) of fire. Thank God he's ok.

While I would like to think that I would be brave in a situation like that, the truth is I would most likely panic in that situation and either run for help, or stay at a distance and throw something at the beast.

They say situations really change a person..sometimes when need we acquire a strength we didnt know we had..I am sure that lady didnt think before hand she could handle a mountain lion..but when situations arise I believe the strength rises up too;)+

I don't know, I guess you just do not know what you are able to do until the Moment arrives. I could say yes I am or no I am not but really I do not know what I would do in a situation like that.

Hi SimplyJo, I would try my best to save my loved one for sure no matter encountering whatever risk. Love would engender unexpected strength in a sudden to enable us and to be brave enough to face the severe situation and regardless of how dreadful the risk facing is. For what in our mind during that very moment is how to save our loved one from the danger. I appreciate that brave old lady could still hold her mind clear when her husband happened to be in such risky situation. Thanks god she had saved her husbabd from the fierce lion finally. I believe she would feel extremely happy to see her beloving husband was safe from the attack finally, though she had to be hospitalized. Happy posting

I have never been is such a horrible situation but I would like to think that if it were my hubby I would react in the same way as she did. What a crazy story, makes you think twice about hiking.

yes, i could've done the same thing. if i really love my better half, i'd do anything to save his life, no matter what it takes. to fight with a lion is a very hard and dangerous thing to do, but we can do anything because of love. there have lots of bravery done before, and it's not very srprising to hear that. but this certain incident is really amazing, taking into consideration the age of the woman and the circumstances they're in.

First of all I don't think I will be hiking at 65. Second I am not sure I love anyone that much. but the human body is so weird. For some people fear makes them fight with all their might and they never even realize their own strength. For others fear makes them run and never look back. It is the fight or flight theory. Her adrenaline kicked in and she went into fight mode without realizing the danger for her own life. I am a fighter when faced with fear so yes I would have probably done this too.

I saw it on tv early this morning. I have never had anything like this happen to me thank goodness. Where I live we dont have mountain lions. But if something would happen to my hubby I would definetly try to save him.
