Do you like the old black and white 'oaters' from the early 20th century with John Wayne, Randolph Scott, etc.? How about more modern ones with Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, Terrence Hill, etc? Convince me why I should see the one you chose.

That is one of my favorites also...I loved them growing up, and I hear that there will be another one coming out soon...that will prove to be interesting.

My favorite cowboy movie would be the all time favorite "The good ,The Bad and The ugly".All of the Clint East Wood movies are a real feast to watch. The way he moves himself around himself as cool cucmber is a real feast to watch. The performance of all the three actors in the movie was simply awesome.

I like the later ones, they seem more realistic to me. I like The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly and a later Eastwood film, The Unforgiven. Also a movie from last year which, though not about cowboys, was an Australian western--The Proposition. Pretty violent, but excellent performances and characters that were complex, not black and white.

It would be a toss up between El Dorado and Rio Bravo. Both have John Wayne are very similar story lines (minor differences) but I enjoy watching both. In the one you have Dean Martin and Ricky Martin where as the other you have James Caan and Robert Mitchum. Both deal with a town that has problems due to one bad guy and his henchmen and John Wayne has to stand against them with the help of his friends, with one being a recovering drunk. They have the right mix of action, humor, even a bit or romance to make it all work correctly.
