Well sometimes when a guy does that it means they're interested in you and sometimes it's just way of politeness they show to someone around. Just take it as a positive reaction from someone. You don't want guys to be hostile every hour and minute right? =) So basically, just see what body languages were shown then evaluate the person movements.:)

Could he just be smiling because something has amused him? He's happy? Maybe, he thinks you look nice/cute/pretty, but that doesn't mean he's attracted to you in any way. If he is, I'm sure he would let you know....

Personally, I smile back at a girl not because I'm interested in her but rather it is a casual thing, and besides, it's friendly. The more friends the better.

Sometime a guy can just smile to a girl. I think that you have not ask yourself about that. It's both he is smiling back at you probably he is polite and maybe he can interested to you. If you are interested to him you can say to him, if not taht's enough. Smiling is always good.

I don't think if someone just gives any simle to u, he is interested in u. It may be his/her normal attitude for everyone. It may be a naughty smile for everyone. Therefore everybody should alert and should avoid these type of expressions showed by anyone, anywhere.

i think that when a guy smiles back at me its because they're just being polite. but for no reason if a guy smiles at me i know that theres a hidden agenda behind the grin. i dont smile at everybody because i dont trust people especially crowds. i only smile to show a sign of thanks or acknowledgements, thats why if there are guys that smiles at me for no reason i just know that there are something than just being polite.

In such a situation, it always seems to fall upon the man to make the "first move". It is these body language signals that we present of ourselves upon other people that we may unconsciously express. For example, you see a person whom your attracted to, you smile, he may smile back. Most likely because he has also recognized your "attraction" to him and has recipocated it as well, but it is left to him to "persue" the matter with a follow up, such as a responce of "Hi". Such a response is a polite way of saying "I recognize your attraction, but I cannot pursue it at this time." or "Thank you for your attention." If the person has the time to make the "persuit", he or she may follow up that "Hi" with "What's your name?", meaning that they are available and an interest is there. In most cases, such a chance encounter is probably not likely, cause of other factors such as personal insecurities. So we tend to take them as "polite" encounters, since we do not wish to think ill-will towards others.

it may mean that he is interested in you since he smiled at you or maybe you did something that made him smile at you but it does not mean he is interested totally, you may need additional signs to tell.
