I am getting my back garden sorted out so its nice, instead of just grass. I want to get rid off all the grass and have decided to completley cover it but I dont know whauch way is best to do this- slabbing or concrete. My house has no side or back entrance so it all has to come in through the hall and kitchen.
Decking wouldnt be suitable a I have a big dog and want something low maintainance. Any ideas other than concrete?

I did think about decking but was told it takes a lot of work to keep it looking nice so when I got rid of my grass last year we put down some Round paving slabs which look great.
Something like this comes in pieces so its easy to carry and would be suitable for a dog.
We put a lineing and sand under it to stop the weeds coming through and used a cerment mix to keep it in place.

I had decking when I moved into my new house, but with the side entrance, a lot of rubbish used to blow into the garden and get trapped beneath it. I couldn't sit out comfortably thinking of all the rubbish underneath it, so I had it removed and got paving slabs. I got the proffesionals to do it, and it looks quite nice and is very clean. It doesn't cost anything to keep it mantained unlike the decking which need to be painted every so often.

I'd definately not go with the decking idea. It's just a dirt and spider catcher. I'd prefer the slabbing, or blockwork, myself as I think it looks more attractive, but just make sure you get somebody reliable to do it. You don't want grass or weeds growing up through it. Keep an eye out and check peoples driveways as you're driving around and don't be afraid to knock on their door and ask who did it for them if you see something nice. Or have a look at some of the free garden landscape sites for ideas.
