What Book Would You Write?

They say that everyone has a book inside them just waiting to be written. Assuming you had the ability (and time!) what book would you write? What genre would it be - thriller, biography, horror, romance ... Mine would be a horror I think. I have an overactive imagination (at 45 I still sleep with the light on!) so if I could get it all down on paper I think it would be scary! Perhaps you've written a book already or are in the process of writing one - if so tell me about it.

The Book would be a biography basically that I would write. I'm 21 years old, and as young as I may sound, I've had a difficult life going thru school. I've been made fun of every way you can possibily think of. Everything has happened to between lipgloss being pouring over my brand new school books during class, over my hair, I have been called "TROLL", i've been taunted by pranks calls, and even attacks thru personal messnegers (Msn, Icq). I've been called numerous names, and numerous things, and been basically humilated which made me turn into a shy teenager afraid of "what ppl think" of me. I've even skipped the prom cause i didn't feel wanted there. Anyways i would write about how bullying effects your life, and tell my story. I've written a book, well a thing oujt and ppl have read it (my close friends) and they all agree i should try to get it edited and published but i somehow lost thebook over the years and i've attempted to re-write but my mind has forgotten alot of what i have written in my previous book.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience of bullying. That's a subject that affects so many people you would definitely have an audience for it. Your friends are right -you should try to rewrite it. It might help others going through similar experiences. Thanks for your response.

I have written a novel when I was about 17 years old. It was a special fantastic (scifi) novel. I have alredy thrown it out :( I showed it only to my sister. I have also written a sexblog about my imagination. I had a lot of regular readers, who really enjoyed it, and always asked me to continue. But I deleted it too. :)

Not many 17 year olds write novels so that's an achievement in itself - as is having a successful blog. Keep going with the writing - you're obviously good at it. Thanks for your response.

I actually started writing a book, but have only done chapter 1 and was told i needed to develop more, so i will re-write it. It's a suspense/thriller,about two twin sisters, one seeking revenge on the other after some incident. I won't say too much!

I think actually getting started is the hardest part isn't it? I have all these ideas in my head but never get round to putting them down on paper ... one day I will though! Thanks for your response.

I'm working on a mystery with supernatural aspects. Its about a detective investigating the murder of a witch. The main suspect is his ex-girlfriend, who is also into magick. They have a child together and he doesn't really want it to be her. He doesn't want to even have to deal with her. But its a small town and he has a job to do.

I would like to write the next great American novel. A tale of adventure, love and deceit. I would probably set it in rural America and rely heavily on local flavor. So as soon as I become independently wealthy, I will probably get started. I imagine that won't be until at least summer. ;-)

Ah independently wealthy .... I'm waiting for that to happen as well before I start writing my novel! Thanks for your response.

I like to write spookies. I have written a short story that s soon to be published. I am currently working on another whic tends to lean more towards the thriller. I have a very vivid imagination so I might as well share it with others. I am also in the process of writing about my meeting my hubby and moving to another country and all the hurdles we had to jump through just to get me here.

Congratulations on getting your short story published. I have a vivid imagination too but lack the self-discipline to actually sit down and write a book. Thanks for your response.

I want to write a book on Sociology , I want to clarify the position of Islam to the world ,also I want to show that Islam and the rest of the religions are actually very similar .I would also like to discuss new definitions for morality ,religion ,justice ,god etc . If you read some of my posts on similar topics you will find some of the ideas filling my head (sometimes they make me tired and I get a headache and can't post any more topics ,other times I can't leave before I write down all I want to say ).

I had a look at some of your other posts shogunly so I see where you're coming from. Anything that dispelled some of the ignorance and misinformation about Islam would be useful so I wish you good luck with your writing and thanks for your response.

I love the horror books. King is my idol, can have tried, but everything has already been written, I have some idea, but it is not easy, one risks to fall in the banal and one discounted.

King is great - The Shining is really a classic. You're right - with horror it's a fine line between scary and trashy I think. There are lots of trashy horrors around! Thanks for your response.

I actually just finished writing a book about my childhood. I'm not going to publish it as it is - it would be pretty awful for my parents - but I was thinking of fictionalizing it and trying to get it published. I had an "eventful" childhood.

I had an eventful childhood too. I thought about doing the same and actually started it but left it unfinished - partly because of the potential harm it could have caused but also because instead of finding it therapeutic (as people told me I would) I found writing about it was fairly disturbing! Good luck with yours if you do try to get it published. If you have gone to all the effort of writing it I think you should. Thanks for your response.

I would write some kind of new age self-help book. Something that could help people to understand their lives and how to change them, to find happiness and prosperity. Other books I would like to write would be a western novel, something along the lines of "Lonesome Dove", epic in scale but a different kind of story. And I would like to write a book on options trading, which I do in real life.

You have a few ideas there so I sense it's something you've thought about doing anyway. I would go for it if I were you - especially the one about options trading. Not 100% sure what it is but it sounds very "specialist"! Thanks for your response.

If I have the ability and time to write, I would surely write which has a mix of everything...love, romance, thriller, biographer...but focuses on the Filipinos who lived abroad. For sure you know that there are a lot of Filipinos who lived and work outside the Philippines just to bring home the bacon to there family in there own country. I can relate to this since I am a Filipino and I heard a lot of flights of Filipinos abroad. It would be a wonderful book. What do you think?

Sounds good - I've met a lot of people from the Philippines who are working in this country (UK) to send money home for their families. Thanks for your response.

Travel narratives are great - I love them. Definitely one of my favourite types of books to read. If they're written well it almost feels like you've visited the country/place too! Thanks for your response.

Fantasy. About communal living but how it begins to break down as the upcoming youth of the society don't appreciate how important their contributions are and just begin to take. The society's well-being would be in debt to a higher power which through chosen ones provides knowledge needed for them to survive.

I have written several short stories and poems. One is fantasy and the rest horror. I would love to write a novel someday. It would take quite sometime but I think if I had the time to put into it I could do it. I love writing and reading. That's what I love so much about Mylot. There are lots of good discussions on here and I love reading them and responding to the ones I have something to say about. That's also why I love blogging now. I just started blogging recently and it gives me good practice with my writing. I also just signed up with Associated Content because I saw a post on here where they pay you to write articles so I decided to try it out and am waiting to see if my article has been approved for payment. With all of these different sites I'm finding to pay you to post and write articles I don't think I would have time to write a novel but I think I will try one day anyway. It's been awhile since I have even written a short story or poem but I know I will back to it soon enough. I miss it. Also since my new meds are working for my depression I am finding interest in the things I used to love. :)
